LIMITED EDITION ARTWORK Puerto Rican Salsa
History
Puerto Rican salsa, also known as salsa borinqueña, is a popular genre of music that originated in Puerto Rico in the 1960s. The roots of Puerto Rican salsa can be traced back to the African and Spanish cultures that have shaped the island’s identity and history. Africans brought with them various instruments and musical traditions, such as the drumming and rhythms of West Africa, while the Spanish introduced various musical instruments and traditions, such as the guitar and the Andalusian copla. The fusion of African and Spanish music, along with other influences such as jazz and Cuban son, gave rise to Puerto Rican salsa.
In the 1940s and 1950s, Puerto Rican musicians began to experiment with different musical styles, creating new sounds and rhythms. In 1963, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico was formed, which would later become one of the most important salsa bands in Puerto Rico. In the 1970s, Puerto Rican salsa exploded in popularity and continued to evolve in the 1980s and 1990s. Today, Puerto Rican salsa continues to be a popular genre of music and is a testament to the talent and creativity of Puerto Rican musicians and their ability to create music that resonates with people around the world.
Artwork Process
Our young and talented dancers from a local dance school, became our human brushes in this masterpiece, performing live in front of an audience at the restaurant 1902 in Milan. Their extensive training brought us stunning theatrical expressions that were captured on camera during their performance and did the Ruma justice. Each footprint was captured on a yellow base, representing the shining sun of Cuba, while other vivid colors such as violet and pink melted with the base color. Sanaz decided spontanesouly to add some gold glitter tempera to the artwork, resembling parts of our female dancer’s costume, which turned finally into a harmonious color mix.
While some areas show the dancers feet, other areas display partial prints in a breathtaking color composition. These minor details combined with the dynamic movements of our talented dancers, draw the audience closer to the artwork and capture their attention. The outcome is a unique artwork full of contrasts between vibrant base colors and delicate footsteps, leading to fascinating abstract patterns, which resemble a marriage of Yves Klein’s and Jackson Pollock’s masterpieces. The magic of dance and movement is captured and immortalized in this artwork, acting as a reminder of the simplest joys of life.

However, we pledge that a large part of the proceeds of these artworks will go to a charity supporting the education of children and teens or to a charity of your choice.
Transparency is a big deal! Our post-purchase transparency act team will provide you with the necessary and detailed information about our revenue and profit structure and the entire detailed costs starting from the artwork production up to all connection points including, for instance, the logistics details of our pledge to provide urgently needed classroom laptops to a vocational hotel school in Nosy Be, Madagascar, where Sanaz Hanke our founder has already taught more than 200 students coding and computer science within 6 months but with only 4 laptops at hand.
We make sure that we either deliver the necessary help directly to where it is needed or that we only work with internationally trustworthy and recognized organizations. To give an example the organization Labdoo.org, which provides educational material for underprivileged students in form of used and repaired second-hand laptops, has already shown immense global success thanks to founder Ralf Hamm, who was awarded with the federal order of merit by German president Frank-Walter Steinmeier for the distribution of 41198 Devices to 2496 Schools with 784451 Students in 559 Hubs and 147 Countries, having saved 640287 Kgs CO2 in the process. For more info about Labdoo.org, visit their website here. The innovative solution to the main transparency question on whether these laptops are really serving underprivileged students or being stolen and sold on a black market is was solved by Labdoo with their GPS trackers and their Dootronics Dashboard, which we highly recommend you to check out.
